Michael Meramo, CPO

Regional Manager - Certified Prosthetist & Orthotist

Michael Meramo is a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist, working out of our Philadelphia clinic. Mike became interested in the field during his senior year of college at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mike had always been interested in healthcare, but he also grew up knowing amputees as well as acquiring a knee brace himself when he was injured playing football. Mike was intrigued on how the knee brace was made and decided to talk to the owner. He saw the owner’s passion about the field and knew right away that this field was for him. The combination of these two passions made the O&P field seem like a perfect fit. He fell in love with the hands-on nature of the work, the close, personal relationships with patients and the definite, instant benefit of the work to someone who, for example, rolls into the office in a wheelchair and ends up walking out.

After obtaining his Bachelor degree in Biology, Mike attended New York University Prosthetics and Orthotics program, graduating in 1984. He completed his Prosthetic and Orthotics residency at Kessler and furthered his knowledge at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. This experience enabled him to see many rare diagnoses and complex devices. During that year, he became the first Prosthetist to utilize the energy foot.

Mike then moved to Pennsylvania to begin his capital venture as a business owner. In 1993, he started M and M Prosthetic and Orthotics. In the past decade, Mike has lectured internationally on prosthetics to other health professionals including doctors, physical therapists and patients. Mike loves to work with cutting edge technology and is certified in some of the most advanced feet, knees and orthotics like the new Genium, C4, Plie, the symbiotic systems from Ossur and computerized knee orthosis . Mike was also on the board of directors for the International Prosthetic and Orthotic association.

Outside of work, Mike loves to bike, travel, and spend time with his wife of 32 years and watch his 2 children grow into great young professional adults.
